I am always fond of natural and effortless look makeup, although in reality you still put a bit of an effort to look effortless. If you are like me who loves sleeping and feels so happy when getting a full 8-hour of sleep at night but needs to be up early to get ready for the day, then my effortless morning makeup that only takes 15 minutes or less to do may also do the trick for you.
My morning regimen includes drinking one full glass of water as I wake up, even before brushing my teeth – I heard that it’s good for overall health and could make the skin look bright and healthy, so why not? I love scrubbing my face and body every other day to get rid of dead skin cells, my favorite these days is Clarins Exfoliating Body Scrub for Smooth Skin. Aside from drinking tons of water everyday, I see to it that my face is always moisturized, especially when the changing weather makes my skin dry and flaky and a bit oily all at the same time – I love using Olay Natural White Day moisturizer SPF 24 every morning.
Having a sensitive skin, I get pimples easily especially whenever I eat oily food or use products that don’t match my skin type so I always try to stick with the basics. I would start off with a foundation like Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation which works well for me these days. Then I would fix my eyebrows, where I would spend most of my time – I can imagine most girls can relate! Eyebrows are critical, we want something that’s thick enough and shapely but we can never ever go overboard unless we want to look like a pair of eyebrows with a face – that’s a no no! MAC 266 Small Angle Brush and MAC Espresso Eyeshadow do wonders in taming my eyebrows and give it a defined look. I would then use Sephora Collection Contouring 101 Face Palette for my eyes and cheeks.
I use the lightest shade of the palette under my eyes to hide dark circles and on my eyelids to prime it for the eyeshadow. I would then use the darkest shades of brown of the same palette for my eyelids, I sometimes mix the three darkest shades of brown for my eyelid just to experiment a bit but most of the time just one shade of brown will do the trick. I will top off my eye make up with Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Mascara.
I apply the same medium shade of brown of Sephora Collection Contouring 101 Face Palette just below my cheekbones to give it a contour. To have a little bit of blush and highlight, I use Urban Decay Naked Flushed Face Palette. I apply first the blush powder on my cheeks then a dash of the highlighter just a bit above the cheekbones and on my nose. For final touch, I would use Inglot Pressed Powder to set my makeup. Of course my look is not complete without Inglot Lipstick Matte #425.
That’s it and you’ll be effortlessly ready in 15 minutes or less.
